In this option the user defines the different Blocks of study which is applicable to the institution. The ITS System provides the following default values, but the user may add any number of Blocks:

| Block Code | A2 | A unique code to identify the Block. The <LIST> function will display all valid codes. |
| Description | A30 | A Description of the Block which is created. This may be an Academic Block or an Examination Only Block. Note that in Version 11 exam only blocks do not have to be created as more than one exam opportunity can be linked to a block. |
| Alternate Description | A30 | The (optional) Alternate Description of this block. |
| Exam Only? | A1 | Allowed values are (Y)es or (N)o. All normal teaching blocks will take the value (N)o. A (Y)es will only be used in the cases where an examination is written that does not follow on a teaching period. An example would be the case of a January Re-examination following on a normal examination the previous November. |
| Sort Order | N3 | This number will control the sequence in which subject registrations will be printed on academic records. For instance, it would be logical to give a smaller number to Semester One than to Semester Two. This field is also important for the batch registration of additional exams {SSTUD4-21}. |
| Enrolment Type | A1 | Select the type of enrolment for this block: (A)nnual, (S)emester or (Q)uaterly. This field is used in Cohort Credit Rules {SSTUD9-9}, the Student iEnabler and Subject Registration. |
