Display-see also-References {LCAO-6}

“See also” references are used to link related words with one another. This is a query option for the terms as entered in {LCAO-4}.

Fields in the option:

Block 1:  Authority

A query in the first Block will display the existing data in the second Block:

Field Type
&
Length
Description
Tag and subfield N3 & A1 Enter a tag and subfield in the first block as well as the required term/s to be searched on.
Press <ENTER>
The second Block will display the data, as entered and defined under option {LCAO-4}. The exact authority records as they have been linked as well as the (R)elated, (B)roader or (N)arrower indicator will be displayed.

Example of lcao-6b1

Block 2:  Authority Links

A query in the first Block will display the existing data in the second Block:

Field Type
&
Length
Description
The user should remember that the %-key should be used freely or else an exact query should be done, because the data has been entered in the system as authority records. It is not possible to do a search as can be done in Information Retrieval where Stop Words are being ignored.

Since the use of “See also” references could result in vastly increased numbers of hits being retrieved with subject searches, its use has been limited to Library Staff Query options.  In these cases, the system will check for the existence of “See also” references in respect of any of the terms used in the search, and conduct “OR” searches in respect of each term that was found.

Example of lcao-6b2
