The system allows the recording of
“See” and “See also” references
under this option. Whilst these references are normally used
in relation to a list of subject headings, their scope is not limited
to this aspect in the ITS system.
The cross references as
defined in this option will operate on subject searches. The
user can enter a tag and sub-field in the first block and do a query on
the indexes as for a normal authority record query. The data
pertaining to the selected query criteria will be displayed in the
second block. The user can look for the required entry and
enter the appropriate term in the “Type” field.
Field | Type & Length |
Description |
---|---|---|
Type | A1 | The appropriate term can be entered next to the
selected record, i.e. (B)roader, (N)arrower, (R)elated or (S)ubstitute
term. The different “See” and “See also” records as they have been identified and entered under this option, can be queried under options {LCAO-5} and {LCAO-6} respectively. |
