Renewals {LCIO-3}

This option can be used to renew items individually, or it can be used to identify all the items currently issued to a user so that some or all of them may be renewed.  The screen already is in query mode when entered.  Items can only be renewed if the item is not overdue. Overdue items must first be returned, to calculate outstanding fines, and must them be issued again.

Description
Card Number A22 The cursor will be in this field and the user card can be swiped, otherwise the <ENTER> key will take the cursor to the next field.
User Type A1 To renew all or some of the items issued to a user, a query is done on his User Type (“P”, “S” or “O”) and Number.  The user details will be displayed as in the previous option, as well as the records of all the items currently issued to him, showing the current expiry date of each.
Number N9 Refer to field description above for user type.
Expiry Date DD-MON-YYYY The date until when this user will be a valid person in the library system. Where this date is in the past renewal will not be allowed with following exception :
for patrons of type 'P' (personnel) and 'S' (student) above rule can be overridden by library personnel linked to LCOI restriction on {LCIM-10}. In these cases only warning will be issued stating that patron does not have active enrolment/service record while giving option to either proceed with, or, halt issue renewal of library material.
Fines Due N15.2 The total amount of fines due for this user.
Items Outstanding The total number of items outstanding for this user.

Times Renewed The number of times this item has been renewed by this user, without returning it.  The library can set a parameterin the Loan Matrix to determine the maximum number of times an item is allowed to be renewed without being returned.
Renew A1 A staff member with “Renewals” privileges  may indicate with a (Y)es in the “Renew?” field that the item is to be renewed, in which case the system will insert a new expiry date according to the loan matrix.
To renew only a single item, the item number is queried.  The particular item can then be renewed as above.
When these records are <COMMIT>ted, the system will check that the item is not on hold for another user.  Should this be the case, a message will be displayed, and the transaction cannot be <COMMIT>ted.
New Expiry Date DD-MON-YYYY A staff member with “Renewal Limit Override” privileges may then alter this calculated date if desired.  In the case of an expired item a staff member will have to have “Expire Date Override” privileges   to renew such an  item.
Current Expiry Date DD-MON-YYYY The current expiry date of the item as calculated by the system according to the parameters in the Loan Matrix.
