Block 2: Routing List:  Routing Control

The system will automatically query any existing routing information for this periodical and display it in the second Block.  Each record consists of:

Field Type
&
Length
Description
Copy Number  N5  If the institution receives more than one copy of a periodical, a separate routing list can be produced for each such copy.  This field is used to enter the copy number to which this Routing List refers.
Item or Photocopy A1 Either the copy of the periodical itself, or a photocopy of the index can be circulated.  If (I)tem is entered, the system will assume that the item itself is being sent out of the library.  Its status will be set at RT (Routed), this must be changed to SH (Shelf) when it is returned to the library.  If, however, a photocopy is circulated, the status is set at SH (Shelf) as it is assumed that the periodical will be put on the shelf.
Sequence N5 A routing slip can contain the names of many persons.  The sequence, in which these people are to receive the copy is determined by this sequence number.  It might be advisable to initially allocate these numbers in 10's so as to allow for the eventual inclusion of new names higher up on the list.
User Type/Number A1/N9 The Type, e.g. P, S, or O and the Number of the person to appear on the Routing List are entered here.  (Personnel numbers can be queried under option {LCIM-1}).  The name of the person will be displayed.
By pressing <NEXT BLOCK> key again, a second screen will appear: “Query Periodicals Linked to Users"
