Application {SRAS-1}


This option consists of two blocks of information.  Block one contains detail regarding the research applicants: block 2 contains detail regarding the proposed research.  There can be any number of applicants for the same research project and one applicant can apply for any number of research projects.

Project Code A8  A unique code by which to identify the project.
Description A60 The research title of the project.
Project Scope A1 Is this a Parent or a Child project?  Projects can be broken down into smaller projects.  This mechanism allows different projects to be joined.  Independent projects are identified as (P)arent  projects.
Parent Project Code A8 The code of the parent project.  If the project is a child project, the parent project code is mandatory.  The <LIST> function will display the valid codes.
Proposed Start Date DD-MON-YYYY The proposed start date of the project.
Proposed End Date  DD-MON-YYYY The proposed date of completion of the project.
Field of Study N2 The CESM category of the field of study. The <LIST> function will display the valid codes.
Research Type Code A4 The code indicating the type of research to be carried out.  The <LIST> function will display the valid codes.  This field can be used to group research into different categories for reporting purposes.
Department  N4 The department controlling the research.  The department name will be displayed.  The <LIST> function will display all active departments.  This field is mandatory if the next field is not entered.
Institution N4 The institution at which the research will be carried out, if it is the user's own institution.  The <LIST> function will display all valid codes.
Qualification A6 The qualification code for which the research project is being done, if it isor a qualification offered at this institution. The <LIST> function will display the valid codes.
Qualification Description A40 The description of the qualification,  if the research is performed at another institution. 
Date Created DD-MON-YYYY The system date defaults into this field and indicates the date on which the project was created on the system.

Block 2:  Research Application

Project Code  A8 The code is carried over from block 1.
Description A60 The project description is displayed.
Person Indicator A1 The valid values are (S)tudent, (P)ersonnel member or (O)ther.  Personnel who want to perform research for qualification purposes must be enrolled as a student and the indicator (S) will apply.  People other than students or personnel, who want to make use of the research facilities, must be indicated as (O)ther. The <LIST> function will display the valid codes.
Person Number N9 The number of the person who will perform the research.  The <LIST> function will display the valid codes.
Application Date DD-MON-YYYY The date on which the person applied to do the research project. This may not be a future date.
Research Grading Code A4 The research grading code of the person as defined on {SRASC-1} and entered on {PBOP-1}, {SREGB-1} and {GOPS-3}.  The research grading description will be displayed and cannot be updated using this option.
Rating of Application A4 The rating of the applicant, as defined on {SRASC-4}.  This is a mechanism whereby the research committee may rate the application: it could be used to determine whether funds must be allocated.  The <LIST> function will display the valid codes.
Transaction Date  DD-MON-YYYY The date of processing the application.  The system date will default and it cannot be updated.
