The system makes provision for a “prompted” facility for the entering of bibliographic records under option {LCAO-1}. The definition of the prompts to be used there is entered here. Each record in this option will request the user to enter the contents of a particular subfield.

| Description | A40 | The text of the prompt, which will be displayed when the user is requested to enter the information for this sub-field. The text can differ from the name as defined in the MARC structure. |
| Sequence | N4 | The user can define the sequence in which the prompts should appear. This need not be the same as the MARC field numbers. |
| Use at Order | A1 | A (Y)es is entered here, in order to identify those prompts that
should be used in the acquisitions subsystem {LACQ-1}. Normally
this would include only those sub-fields that would be used on the
printed order. If a sub-field which is entered here forms part of a field that is under authority control, the field authority file will be displayed in the prompting sequence. |
