Dependants {PBOP-7}

Details of the dependants of a person may be entered here, as follows:

Dependant details may change over time. The system uses the start and end dates of dependants to determine whether a dependant or a specific record of a dependant should be taken into account at a specific time. 

This applies to all programs using dependants such as the salary calculation program and all report programs. 

If any attribute of a dependant changes a new record should be created with a new start date. The process to handle this correctly would be to first capture an end date in the existing dependant record and then to create a new dependant record with the changed status. 

Start and end dates for individual dependants may not overlap.

The functionality of this menu option allows documents to be uploaded as needed per a Dependant i.e. birth certificates, proof of a child dependent studying full time etc. In order to upload documents, view documents already loaded or delete a document previously uploaded, click on the ‘Documents and Notes’ icon.

Access may also be given to allow employees to update their Dependent’s details themselves, using the iEnabler functionality {P00005-11 Personal Maintenance - Dependents}.  Supporting documentation may be uploaded by the employee and viewed in {PBOP-7}.

An automated email notification may be generated, notifying when dependents are turning 21 years old by defining the email notification routing path for Routing Type ‘DEPA’ and either generating {PBOPR1-10 Create Automated Emails when Dependent turns 21} or linking {PBOPR1-10} to run as a scheduled job {BATCH-8}
