Description
Answering Type A2 This field defines the types of questions that may be asked in a questionnaire.  Certain codes are supplied, but the user may add his/her own codes.   Of special interest is the so-called “remark” type answers.  This answer type allows the respondent to answer in free format text; typical of the so-called open-ended questions often used in qualitative surveys.  A text answer of 80 characters long is allowed as a remark type response, therefore a sentence can be captured here.  The user should note that, unfortunately an essay type response cannot be accommodated in this answer type.
Description A30 The description of the answer type code.
Answers A3 These two fields allow the user to specify allowable answers.  For example, if the question type is Yes / No (meaning that the question may only be answered with a Yes or a No), the user can specify here that only Y or N is a valid answer.  Of course, this will only apply to question types with only two possible correct answers. This field is not applicable to questionnaires deployed through the Web Mechanism.
Max/Min Level N5 This allows the user to specify a minimum and a maximum range of numeric values that are allowable answers.  If, for instance, the user specifies a range of 1 (min) and 10 (max), then the respondent may only supply numeric answers between and including 1 and 10.  This field is not applicable to questionnaires deployed through the Web Mechanism.
Is this Prompt N1 (A) Text Box, (S) Single Line Text, (C) Check Box, (D) Display Only, (P) Popup List or (R) Radio Buttons (N5). This allows the user to specify the type of answer  Display only prompts can be used to display instructions to respondents.
