Cohort Relations {SSTUD9-10}

This option is used to set up relations between cohorts as defined in {SSTUD9-1}.


Both cohorts that are referenced here must be defined in option {SSTUD9-1}.


Please remember that a cohort definition includes the code and user ID to uniquely identify a cohort. Both of these elements must be used to define the relation. The program will prevent a cohort from being linked to itself in any way.


During the auto-generation of cohorts in {SSTUD9-5}, students will be linked to the Cohort Code and User (left hand side of the screen), i.e. the 'primary' cohort code. The program will check if the student complies with the relationship requirement of the involved Cohort Code and User (right hand side of the screen).

Cohorts can be linked to the following types of relations:

Cohort Code A6  Enter the primary cohort code.
User A8 Enter the owner user code of the primary cohort code. The auto-generation program will try to link the student to this cohort code / user combination. The description of the combination will be displayed.
Involved Cohort Code A6 Enter the involved cohort code.
User A8 Enter the owner user of the involved cohort code. The auto-generation program will test each student against these cohort codes before allowing the linking of the student to the primary cohort code / user combination. The description of the involved combination will be displayed.
Relation Type A1 The values are :
  • Pre-requisite (P)
    • The student must be linked to the involved cohort code before linking to the 'primary' cohort code will be done.
  • Exclude (E).
    • The student must be not have been linked to the involved cohort code before linking to the 'primary' cohort code is done.
  • Chain Cohort (C)
    • Cohorts that have students linked {SSTUD9-4} and / or have parameter set(s) {SSTUD9-1} defined cannot be used as Involved Cohorts for 'C' relation.

Examples  
  In the example above:
  1. A student who complies with the rules of Cohort PPP01 / PHLIP will only be linked to the cohort if the student is also linked to the combination of Cohort ADELE / PHLIP.
  2. A student who complies with the rules of Cohort XXX001 / PHLIP will not be linked to the cohort if the student is already linked to the combination of Cohort XXX002 / PHLIP.
