Cancel a Subject {SDREGC-4}

This option is used when a student decides to cancel his / her enrolment for certain subjects only and to continue with others.  Subjects with marks can be cancelled, but subjects with Results can not.  If modules are linked to a main subject {SACADO-17} and the main subject is cancelled all the modules linked to the mail will be cancelled as well.

For further details regarding this option, see Cancel a Subject {SREGC-4}.

The following rules apply to Distance Education:

The cancellation of a student’s subject will directly affect the student’s study material information subject items; the table below illustrates what the effect will be.

Changes
X 2 2 No items are outstanding and the student’s information will remain unchanged.
Y 2 1 The item is not fully issued against this, therefore the quantity requested will be changed to the quantity issued.  For this student, the quantity will be changed to “1”.
Z 2 0 Nothing has been issued against the item; the request quantity for the item will be changed to “0”.

*  The table reflects item code “001”, for which a quantity of 2 must be issued.

Check Cancellation of Subject if {SMNT-12} Code="CD" Subs="RE" is defined, the cancellation will be stopped if number of days defined exceeded.It is important to realise that the cancellation of a subject may be “undone” by removing the cancellation date and form number and then <Commit>ting the record again.  (Such transactions are recorded on a logfile, options {SMNTL-1} and {FSAMR1-1}).  These actions will not, however, “undo” any credits, which may have been passed to the student’s account when the subject was cancelled; and the Finance Section should consult the logfile to identify such cases. If a student cancellation is un-cancelled, the option will evaluate the material the student should receive under normal registration circumstances and also take into account the study material already received before the cancellation.  A request will only be created for the balance of items not issued.  It is very important to remember that when an item is linked to “Re-issue Y”, within option {SDGUIM-1}, and the subject is un-cancelled and the student already received the item for the initial registration the student will receive the item again as this action is seen as a new registration. The table below will illustrate the record that will be created.  All new requests created with  un-cancellation will be issued with the postal list option {FPMO-25}.
