System Operation Definition {SMNT-12}


This option is used to enter parameters that control the rules according to which the student systems must operate.

The records in this option is System Defined and users cannot create new records via this option.  Users can only update the Alpha / Date or Numeric
fields with the appropriate value.
Unfortunately, when the SOD was implemented in the SMS, there were not enough time / resources to also define a place to define the sub-
systems.

Alpha If an Employer code with the same value as the SOD is entered, the user will be allowed to enter a free text Employer Name.  This is typically used to enter an Employer name that does not appear in the LOV.  The code specified in the SOD, e.g. ---- will be used to indicate that the free text value is used te enter the Employer name (It is normally best to specify a value that would appear first or Last in the LOV). The text on the LOV will typically be 'Please specify'.

academic rules and regulations must be accepted.

IM AP Validate illegal Matric Type with Admission status combinations (Y/N) Alpha During an audit it was established that current Grade 12 learners were erroneously Fully Accepted, resulting in them registering without meeting the entry requirements based on the final Grade 12 NSC results.
When you set this SOD to 'Y', the system will check for invalid combination of Matric Type and Admission Status on {GOPS-21} for External body NSC and External Code type MTS for all invalid combinations of Admission status (Internal code) and Matric type (External Code).  If an invalid combination of  {SREGB-1} Matric Type and {SNAPPA-3} Admission Status is encountered, an error message will be displayed indicating "Cannot accept current Grade 12 learners.  Please correct Matric Type on {SREGB-1}"

IN AP Should International Status Code be created 'Y / N' Alpha Depending of this setting a status code record will be created for a student on {SREGL-2}, if there is a difference between the Admission Status and the Citizenship code SOD 'CR / BI' and the citizenshipcode on the biographical record of the student on {SREGL-2}.

This is a local software SOD that is used to compare the student postal address type with student
postal address type on the address table.

When a student enters Surname, Name and Date of Birth at TUT iEnabler local application form and
the system finds more than one student information that match with the information that a student
entered then a new screen will be called to display student postal address type from address table
that matches with student postal address type from from this SOD.

A student will then have to choose postal address type that belongs them.

  • If no value is entered in this field, neither of the two fields will be mandatory.

Please Note: The client must ensure that the Citizenship, Passport and ID number fields in the dynamic
biographical iEnabler screen definition are set-up in such a way that this new rule can be complied with.

If this rule is active, then the citizenship and one of the other two fields will be processed in the dynamic
biographical iEnabler screen as if they are mandatory.

ST WZ TVET Ask NSFAS Accomodation/Transport on Application Wizard Alpha The field "Do you want to apply for residence?" will show by default when SOD (ST/WZ) on {SMNT-12} is NULL or set to "N". Applicants that choose (Y)es, will be notified via e-mail about the process on applying for residence but the system will not automatically generate a residence application record.

If  SOD is set to "Y" and "How to you intend paying for your studies?" is "NSFAS", the field will be replaced by "NSFAS students will you be applying for Transport or Accomodation?", with the following possible answers "Accomodation, Transport".
If the student choose "Accomodation", another field, "Indicate the residence type you prefer" will be available for the student to select, possible answer "Private Accomodation, College Residence".
