Change Marks and Results (Calculate) {SSTUDM-2}

This option is similar to option {SSTUDM-1} and allows manual updates on student study records. The only difference is that any changes to marks will result in the automatic calculation of the values of the subsequent fields.

The following Validations and SOD manage access and behaviour of this option:

{SMNT-2} System cycle 'F' - Change Marks and Results must be open in order to change year mark, exam granted, exam mark, final mark or result manually.
{SMNT-2} System cycle 'E' - Enter Exam Marks must be open in order to change exam paper mark manually.
{FSAM-3} 'DF' - Display Fees on Study Records controls display of fees.
{SMNT-1} 'AU' - "Use Mark Type Information when calculating admission and final marks and results".
{SMNT-1} When 'PM' - "Process Canc Student Marks" is set to 'Y', a full period mark can be entered for cancelled students.
{SMNT-12} SOD 'MC/SR' - "Calculation programs to process cancelled marks and results" is only applicable to changes on the exam mark, final mark and result code.
Normally, the Subject Result Code may not be updated when a Qualification is Completed. However, functionality can now be altered using {SMNT-12} SOD IC/SR Ignore Completed Qual Restriction during Subject update.
- If set to NULL or N, the update of subject data will work as is. Once a qualification has been marked as Completed, no update will be allowed.
- If set to Y, the update of subject data will be allowed. If an institution needs to enter a mark or result or update the attendance factor after the qualification has already been marked as completed, the update will be allowed.
{SMNT-12} SOD 'RD/SR' - "Updating Date when updating Results" will update Result date when set to 'Y' and results are calculated or updated.
When 'Must the Grade Average be included in the calculation of the Overall Mark?' (GPA / SWA) is set to 'N' on the curriculum {SSTUDD-5} or the student's subject enrolment, Credit point will display as 0.00, otherwise Internal Credits as defined on {SACADO-10} is displayed.
The re-calculation indicator on {SCODE-23} for specific Result Codes must be set to 'Y', otherwise Result Code will not be recalculated.
If a student is linked to action code 'UR' or 'QR', the system will not allow update of results.
Access to data under this option is controlled by the facilities under {SMNT-5} and will limit users to subjects linked to their own 'faculties / departments' and 'campus'. Campus restrictions are optional.

Panel Box 1: Search

Search fields will be presented according to saved search criteria selected. Criteria can be expanded using the <Advanced> button.

QueryPerStudentYear to list all Subjects/Modules that the Student registered for.
QueryPerSubjectYear to list all Students registered for a Subject/Module.

Panel Box 2: Change Marks and Results

When changes are made to the fields indicated, using the <Save> button will result in recalculation of exam granted, final mark and result :

Attendance Factor.
Full Period Mark, which also updates exam granted, final mark and result.
Exam Granted.
Exam Mark, which also updates final mark and result.
Final Mark which also updates the result using criteria of {SSTUDE-5} and if no criteria exists here, criteria of {SSTUDE-4} will be applied. The ‘Alternative Final Mark and Result Criteria {SSTUDE-5} is only set if the calculation of the Result Code is subject to a minimum year mark obtained.
Result

Panel Box 3: Exam Paper Marks

This panel is used to view the existing exam paper marks for a student. When changes are made to the fields indicated, using the <Save> button will result in recalculation of exam paper result, exam mark, final mark and result :

Exam Paper Mark updates exam paper result. The normal calculation criteria as per option {SSTUDE-2} apply.
The Sub Minimum indicated in the Examination Paper Criteria on {SSTUDE-2} is not validated.
Only the adjusted mark or result fields will be updated when changes are made.
When an individual Exam Paper Mark is updated here, it automatically updates exam mark, final mark and result when the <Save> button is.

In the example below is an indication for the user to see if the marks have been successfully updated, as in the first example with the blue dot in front of the Student Number; or
with an triangle in front of the student number when the calculation of the marks have failed. The fields 'Calc Ind' and 'Calculation Message' display the same message:
