Implement Student Number Changes {SREGB-21}

This program is used to implement the Hold or Merge decisions that was indicated in {SREGB-22}

The program extracts all entries from {SREGB-22} for the specified faculty, where the status is either 'H'- Hold or 'M' - Merge. If an “Old” number is merged with the “new” number, the program will link an Exclusion Status Code to the “old”

number in {SREGL-2} / {FSAO-12} as defined in {SMNT-12} / {FCSM-1} for the following 'System Operational Definition (SOD) for the 'old' students.  This is primarily to prevent processing of record on the old number.

• Users should firstly run the update in 'Trial' mode to fix bad data if any exists and rerun it in 'Trial', only after they are satisfied that all data errors has been fixed they can run it in 'Update' mode.

• For entries with a status of 'M', the program also attempts to move and update data from the 'old' student to the 'new' student' if data exists, to the following sub systems:

  • Registration (Qualification / Subjects).

  • Link of Statuses

  • Cancellation of Qualification and Subjects

  • Additional Subjects

  • Residence Registration Movements

  • Update Qualification / Subject in bulk

  • Certificate Seen

    • and then the program will process all other tables where a student number is detected in the relationships table {DMAIN-1} - (DAVROB).

  • Where there is already an identical existing data record between the old / new student, the record will not be updated against the new student, an will still display against the old student number's records.

  • Biographical Detail  -  The data will not be moved from the old to the new student, only a reference from the old / new student and visa versa will be updated into the 'Alternative Names' field.
