Enter Mark Type Assessment Marks  {SSTUD1-2}

This option allows for generating and entering of assessment marks and results.
These marks will subsequently appear on class lists, and can be used to calculate Mark Type marks. 

Entering of assessment marks is governed by System Cycle “M” as defined in option {SSTUDY-1}. 

Updating and display access to marks can be restricted to a Faculty, Department or Campus by using the data restriction function “SREC” under option {SMNT-5}.  

The rules for processing of Cancelled marks can be controlled with validation ‘PM - Process Canc Student Marks' on {SMNT-1}.

• If the subject was cancelled and the validation is ‘N’, no marks may be entered.
  
• If the subject was cancelled and the validation is ‘Y’ the marks may be entered.
  

• “0” will penalise the student, as the mark will be processed as a "0",
  
• nothing in the field will cause the particular assessment to be ignored in the calculation of Mark Type marks for that individual student.

Records can not be inserted using this option. Records can, however, be generated depending on the setting of the SOD 'GM - Default for generate of student Assessment and Mark Type records' on {SMNT-12} using the functionality of {SSTUD1-8}.  If the SOD value is "Y" or "YNO", the Generate Assessments option can be selected from the Actions drop down menu to generate assessment/mark type records for students registered for the subject and includes:     

• Students that registered after initial creation of Mark type and assessment records.
• Cancelled students.
  

Criteria can be specified to allow the entering of up to 99 assessments in respect of each student. All of these marks can be used by the system when Half and Full Period Marks are computed. The Class Lists and input screen for Assessment Mark include:

• Students who are enrolled for Attendance Only (“A”-exam type).
• Students who cancelled enrolment in a subject. The cancellation date is displayed. This is done as the lists from which marks are entered would otherwise be subject to continual change, disrupting the input sequence.

• Students who were exempted from a subject using option {SREGAR-3}.
• Students who are enrolled for examination purposes only (“E”- exam types).

Two input formats are provided:

• Regular input that calculates result as information is entered
• Alternate Marks entry which only calculates the result when Marks are saved, and does not contain buttons for printing of the class list.  This is to allow for faster data capture.
  

Changes to student marks are written to a log file that can be printed using {SMNTL-6}. The User Code and the program name are also written to the log file.

The user must specify for which Academic Year, Subject, Offering Type, Group Type, Group Value, Mark Type and Assessment Number marks will be entered.

This option is seen as a data capturing option and not a general query screen, therefore it is mandatory to enter a valid value in each of the fields.

The LOV’s for each field builds progressively on each of the preceding fields e.g. the LOV on the subject will only show subjects for the year value entered in the previous field.

Only the Mark, Result Code and Exemption Status can be entered depending on the Type of Evaluation {SSTUD3-7}

• For  C - Competency evaluation, only the Exemption Status and Result Code as specified in {SSTUD3-1} can be entered.
  
• For  O - Objective evaluation, the user can enter a mark and the program will populate the appropriate 'Result Code' and 'Pass / Fail' as defined in {SSTUD3-7}, Assessment Marks Result Criteria tab. The user can type a different valid Result Code if necessary.
• For P, the user can enter the appropriate Result Code from the Rubric as defined in {SSTUD3-7}, Assessment Marks Result Criteria tab.

• If the indicator is 'Y' and the user enters a mark the result and pass / fail indicator will be populated. 
  
• If the result recalculation indicator is 'N', the result will not be recalculated, but the user will be allowed to change it.
• If the user removes the mark, the result and pass / fail indicator will be cleared.
