Operational Manual for Annual Result Calculation (ARC)

The Annual Result Calculation is performed when Student subjects results are available and is used to calculate the Annual Result which determine if a student may be promoted to the next study period.

To enable the a student to register using the online registration program, a students need a qualification application. 

To determine the study level (study period/semester) of the application to be created, the annual result of a student is used.

• When a student meets the specific criteria for the registration (year, study period, block), the student’s registration will be allocated a Pass annual result as specified in {SSTUDD-2} Result Code if Promoted,  When a Pass annual result is obtained, an application is created for the next study period. 
• If the student does not meet the criteria, the registration will be allocated a Fail result as specified in {SSTUDD-2} Result Code if not Promoted, and an application will be created for the same study period.

Annual Result Calculation rule/criteria {SSTUD4-30}

• Standard Rule Codes starting with a ‘Z’ are ITS defined rules and are used as base (with all the parameters needed defined) to create rules applicable to an institution.
• Standard rules are described in Annual Result Calculation Functions
• New rules are created based on the standard functions that are available.  Rules must have the same parameters as specified in the base rule
• Rule parameters cannot be added or removed because the procedures used by the rules need this information.
• Rules can be set Active or Inactive
• The description of an institution rule can be changed
• The parameter values for each rule is set based on the Qualification, Registration block and Study period of the current registration.

When setting up rules, faculty personnel need to: 

• Decide which function will be used to create rules for each qualification.  .
• Determine the Rule Parameter Values
• When these rules are set up, verify that the annual result calculated for the students are correct.

The first 3 parameters of the rule are used to identify the current registration.
