Calculate FTEN Status  {SREGS-2} 

 
This option is used to determine the FTEN status of students.  It must be run before the Validation of Student Data {SREGS-3} is run for STATS purposes.

A report is generated to indicate the number of records updated. The accuracy of this calculation will depend on:
The FTEN validation report {SREGS-4} will identify students with possible missing data.

1    Rules for the calculation of FTEN status.

These questions are necessary to be asked:
1.  Does the student have any previous studies?
     For Undergraduates any record on {SREGB-7}
     For Post-graduates a record on {SREGB-7} with (Y)es at “Post Graduate/Post Diploma Qualification”.
2.  Does the student have registration records for the year smaller than the input year?
     For Undergraduates a record for a smaller year than input year on {SSTUDA-1}
     For Post-graduates a post-graduate record for a smaller year than the input year on {SSTUDA-1}
3.  Does the student have any registration records with the same qualification or Approved qualification for the year smaller than the input year?

Depending on the answers of these questions the FTEN status is calculated.
For Undergraduate students:
First time entering students (F) – all the answers to the questions are No.
Transfer students (T) – will have previous studies.
Non-entering students (N) – Students that have the same qualification/ approved qualification for years smaller than the input year.
Entering students (E) – Students that don’t have the same qualification/ approved qualification as the previous year.
Calculation of FTEN Undergraduate
For Post graduate students:
First time entering students (F) – Student registered for the first time as postgraduate.
Transfer students (T) – will have previous studies and the post graduate indicator is (Y)es.
Non-entering students (N) – Students that have the same qualification / approved qualification for the years smaller than the input year.
Entering students (E) – Students that don’t have the same qualification / approved qualification as the previous year.

Postgraduate Qualification Types are marked as "Post-Graduate" on "Choose the Status of this Qualification Type" field on {SCODE3-1} Qualification Types Tab.
Calculation of FTEN Postgraduate
2 Rules for the calculation of the "Include in STATS Reporting" - field

For each qualification registration of a students in the Reporting Year:
  1. If the Subsidy Type - field of the Offering Type {GCS-5} of the Qualification Registration is set to "(C) None", the "Include in STATS Reporting" - field will be set to (N)o.
         
  2. If the Subsidy Type - field of the Offering Type {GCS-5} of the Qualification Registration is not set to "(C) None"
    • If it is the primary qualification registration for the student and 
      • the qualification registration was not canceled or was canceled after the Census Date
        or
      • there are subject registrations for the qualification registration that is not canceled or was canceled after the Census Date of the Academic Block Code of the subject registrations
         
      • The "Include in STATS Reporting" - field will be set to (Y)es, 
         
    • If it is not the primary qualification registration for the student
      • If the Primary Qualification of the Student will be marked by the program with a (Y)es in the "Include in STATS Reporting" - field, the record will be marked with a (N)o in the field.
      • If the qualification number is the highest of all registrations for the student with Subsidy Type not set to "(C) None" and
        • the qualification registration was not canceled or was canceled after the Census Date
          or
        • there are subject registrations for the qualification registration that is not canceled or was canceled after the Census Date of the Academic Block Code of the subject registrations
           
        • The "Include in STATS Reporting" - field will be set to (Y)es, otherwise it will be set to (N)o.
