SOUTH AFRICAN ETDP SETA SUBSYSTEM {PMAIN-16}

This User Manual describes the information relating to OFO Codes in the ITS Integrator South African ETDP SETA Subsystem.

The Organising Framework for Occupations (OFO) is a skills-based, coded classification system which attempts to take all possible occupations in South Africa and classify them by levels of detail. New OFO Codes are released by government on a bi-annual basis. From 2017 the structure of the codes were increased from N6 to A11. They also have additional Specializations and Alternate Descriptions linked.
 
The reader is reminded that the copyright of the ITS Integrator systems and documentation remains with Adapt IT Education. Users thereof are contractually prohibited from  providing information to third parties, such as other educational institutions.

OFO Codes are made up of the following Groups, which are linked in OFO Code Structure {POFO-1}.

• Major Group (1 Digit)
• Sub Major Group (2 Digits)
• Minor Group (3 Digits)
• Unit Group (4 Digits)
• Occupation (6 Digits), and where applicable a
• Specialization or Alternate Description.

Menu utilized in this system are:

• OFO Code Structure {POFO-1} - The OFO Codes are populated by Adapt IT Education, published for the new reporting period (supplied by ETDP SETA).
• Municipality Codes {POFO-2} - On submission, the ETDP SETA requires Municipality Codes, Municipal Demarcation and Province information included. This assists with the skills audit to establish the deployment of resources. The Municipality Code is used in Space Codes {SPCS-1} for Campus Information to submit geographic placement.
• Link OFO Code (Specialization / Alternate Description} to Post {POFO-3} - This gives the user functionality to link the OFO Code, Specializations and / or Alternate Description to the Post.
• Link OFO Code and Specialization to Person {POFO-4} - This menu gives functionality to link the OFO Code and Specializations or Alternate Descriptions to a Person.
• Upload Bulk Import File {POFO-5} - Utilized to Upload OFO Codes published for the next two year period.
• Bulk Import Link OFO code to Post {POFO-6} - This report allows for OFO Code and, where applicable, Specializations to be linked to Posts.
• Bulk Import Link OFO code to Person {POFO-7} - This report allows for OFO Code and, where applicable, Specializations to be linked to Personnel.
• Copy Post Occupational Category to Person and Update SR {POFO-8} - When an employee is linked to a new OFO Code the Occupational Category may differ from the previous one.  This program gives functionality to upload the changes to employee Service Records. 
• OFO Codes and Alternate / Specialization Codes linked to a Person {POFO-10} - This report extracts OFO Codes linked to Personnel or defaulted from the OFO Code linked to the Post the person is appointed into.
